How we put this together: We haven’t run a cleaning business on BookingKoala. This guide compares what BookingKoala publishes for each plan and works out what that means for a typical small maid service. Use the free trial to confirm anything that matters to you.
The short answer
- Solo or up to 5 cleaners, and email reminders are enough: Starter, listed at $27/month.
- You want text-message reminders, GPS clock-in/out, referrals, ratings or gift cards, or you have 6 to 15 cleaners: Growing, listed at $57/month. For most new maid services that plan to grow, this is the one to trial first.
- 16 to 50 cleaners, or you need marketing campaigns, multi-step booking forms, slow-day discounts, hiring workflows or more than one language: Premium, listed at $197/month.

What counts as a “provider”: BookingKoala defines a provider as anyone who performs the service. If you send cleaners out in teams, each team member counts separately. A business with two teams of three is already at 6 providers, which is past Starter’s limit of 5.
2. What Growing adds over Starter
BookingKoala lists these as “everything in Starter plus”:
- SMS notifications to you, your customers and your cleaners (reminders, confirmations, rating requests and more).
- GPS and clock-in/out for each job.
- Referral and rating system, so customers can share referral codes and rate each clean.
- Gift cards with automatic balance tracking.
- Advanced reports, including why customers cancel and which services are booked most.
- Prospects, a form for collecting job applicants.
- Room for 15 providers instead of 5.
For a residential cleaning business, the first two usually decide it. Text reminders cut down on lockouts and no-shows, and clock-in/out gives you a record when a client asks how long the cleaner was there. If neither matters yet, Starter is fine.
3. What Premium adds over Growing
- Room for 50 providers.
- Campaigns for email and text marketing to up to 5,000 contacts. BookingKoala says you can turn campaigns off so contact growth doesn’t raise your bill.
- Multi-step booking forms, for example asking for a ZIP code first.
- Daily discounts that automatically offer a discount on slow days, such as Mondays and Tuesdays.
- Hiring onboarding with forms and quizzes.
- Multilingual accounts, useful if your cleaners prefer different languages.
- Per-industry settings, so a business running both cleaning and, say, pest control can give each its own hours, booking spots and notifications.
- Extra options on invoicing (automatic invoice sending by email or text, automatic reminders, partial payments, tips on invoices, contract signing) and checklists (real-time progress, checklist dependencies, exporting completed checklists).
Premium costs $140/month more than Growing. For most new maid services, that’s hard to justify until you either pass 15 providers or have a specific use for campaigns or slow-day discounts.
4. What each plan costs over a year
Our own math from the listed monthly prices, before tax and card-processing fees:
- Starter: $27 × 12 = $324/year
- Growing: $57 × 12 = $684/year
- Premium: $197 × 12 = $2,364/year
Past 50 providers, BookingKoala’s pricing calculator starts at $237/month for 60 providers (with 10,000 campaign contacts) and goes up from there.
5. Things to know before you pick
- You won’t be upgraded automatically. BookingKoala’s FAQ says that when you hit a provider, storage or contact limit, your booking site stays live, but you’ll be asked to upgrade before adding another provider.
- Downgrading is credited. The FAQ says you can switch plans anytime and the system adjusts the difference. Its example: pay $197 and downgrade right away, and you won’t be charged again for over three months.
- No contracts. BookingKoala says you can cancel anytime from inside your account.
- Free trial length: the pricing page headline advertises a 30-day free trial, while its billing FAQ still mentions 14 days. Check the length shown when you sign up. Your card is charged right after the trial ends.
- Already have a website? BookingKoala says you can connect its booking forms to an existing site (WordPress, Wix, Weebly and others) instead of using its themes.
6. Questions to settle during your trial
- Count every person who cleans, including each member of a team, and check which plan that puts you on.
- Switch between Starter and Growing during the trial (BookingKoala says you can) and send yourself a test text reminder.
- Run one test booking from start to finish as a customer would, on your phone.
- Charge a small test payment and confirm what lands in your bank account after fees.
- Ask support how to export your bookings and customer list if you ever leave.
Bottom line
Start with Growing if you expect to have more than one cleaner or want text reminders, since that’s where most of the day-to-day features a maid service uses begin. Pick Starter if you’re solo and watching every dollar, knowing you can upgrade later. Leave Premium until you’re past 15 cleaners or have a clear plan for its marketing tools.
