How we put this together: We haven’t run a pest-control route on either app. This guide compares what each company publishes (prices, plan limits and listed features) and works out what that means for a solo tech. Confirm anything that matters in a free trial.
The short answer
- Solo pest tech who needs chemical/material tracking, route tools built for pest work, and the option to freeze the account in winter: GorillaDesk Basic at $49/month for one route.
- Solo operator who already wants Jobber’s quoting and client hub, and is fine starting lean: Jobber Core at $29/month billed annually (1 user). Move to Connect when you need automated reminders and auto-payments.
- Already planning subscription billing, a customer portal and review requests in month one: GorillaDesk Pro at $99/month for one route, or Jobber Grow (more expensive once you add users).
1. What you’ll actually pay as a solo tech (as listed October 17, 2026)
| GorillaDesk | Jobber | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry plan for one person | Basic $49/mo per route | Core $29/mo billed annually ($39 with a 1-year monthly commitment; $49/mo with no commitment) |
| Mid plan | Pro $99/mo per route | Connect, 1 user: $99/mo annual / $119 (1-yr monthly) / $139 (no commitment) |
| Upper plan | Growth $149/mo per route | Grow, 1 user: $149/mo annual / $169 / $199 |

Sources: GorillaDesk pricing and Jobber pricing, accessed 2026-10-17. Jobber also lists a higher Plus tier (from about $399/mo billed annually with 5 users included). A solo operator rarely needs Plus on day one.
Year-one math (list prices, before tax and card fees):
- GorillaDesk Basic, 1 route: $49 × 12 = $588
- GorillaDesk Pro, 1 route: $99 × 12 = $1,188
- Jobber Core, annual billing: $29 × 12 = $348
- Jobber Connect, 1 user, annual: $99 × 12 = $1,188
2. Pest-specific work: where GorillaDesk leans ahead on paper
GorillaDesk markets itself as pest and green-service software. On Basic it already lists:
- Material tracking and reporting for chemical use records
- Basic routing (up to 25 stops) and job/customer mapping
- Invoices, estimates and work orders, including advanced invoice frequencies
- Automated emails and SMS for confirmations, reminders and late payments
- Triggered automations and broadcast messaging
- Square and Stripe integration
Pro adds items solo pest techs often want after the first season: customer online portal, online booking, Stripe/Square subscription billing, Drive Matrix routing, review generation, e-signatures, device tracking/barcoding, GPS device tracking, QuickBooks Online sync and time clocking.
Jobber is built for home-service trades broadly (not pest-only). Core covers scheduling, quotes, invoices, online payments, a website builder and reporting. Connect adds automated client reminders, automatic payments, checklists, quote/invoice follow-ups, QuickBooks Online sync and time/expense tracking. Grow adds richer quotes, job costing, two-way SMS and custom automations.
If your state inspector cares about chemical use logs, confirm GorillaDesk’s material tracking against your form requirements in the trial. Jobber can store job notes and checklists; it does not advertise pest chemical ledgers the way GorillaDesk does.
3. Pricing model: routes vs users
This is the decision that usually decides the buy for a 1-truck shop.
- GorillaDesk charges per route. A solo tech who rides alone needs one paid schedule. Extra office logins are free. If you later hire a second tech who drives their own truck, you add a second route.
- Jobber charges per user. Core is one user. The moment a helper, spouse or second tech needs their own login to see the schedule, you add $29/month per person (and you may already be on Connect or Grow for features).
For a true solo operator, Jobber Core is cheaper on list price. The gap closes or flips once you need Connect-level automation ($99/mo annual for 1 user) or a second login.
4. Seasonal businesses
GorillaDesk’s FAQ says you can freeze the account if the business is seasonal. Jobber’s FAQ focuses on canceling at the end of a billing period (or finishing a 1-year commitment / prepaid annual term). If you shut down for winter in the North, freeze vs cancel-and-restart is worth confirming with both sales teams before you pick annual billing.
5. Trial checklist (do this before you pay)
- Import 20 real customers and build one week of stops. Does the map and route order match how you drive?
- Create one recurring service (monthly general pest) and one one-off (wasp nest). Send the invoice; pay it with a test card.
- Log a treatment with the chemicals you actually use. Can you produce a record you’d show an inspector?
- Turn on appointment reminders (email first, then SMS if you buy credits). Confirm a stop from your phone.
- Ask support how freeze (GorillaDesk) or pause/cancel (Jobber) works for your billing choice.
6. Bottom line
Start with GorillaDesk Basic if pest documentation and route tooling matter more than saving $20/month. Start with Jobber Core if you want the lower annual price and a general home-service suite, then budget for Connect when reminders and auto-pay become non-negotiable. Run both trials with the same week of real stops before you commit.
