How we put this together: We haven’t run a cleaning or landscaping business on either app. This guide compares what Housecall Pro and Jobber publish (prices, users included and listed features) for the kinds of businesses most comparison articles skip: residential cleaning, mowing and small landscaping, rather than HVAC and plumbing. Confirm anything that matters in the free trials.

The short answer

  • Solo operator on a tight budget: Jobber Core at $29/month billed annually is the cheapest entry. Housecall Pro Basic is $59/month billed annually, but it lists job costing and consumer financing from day one.
  • Team of up to 5 users: list prices match at $149/month billed annually (Jobber Connect, 5 users; Housecall Pro Essentials, 5 users). Monthly, Housecall Pro is $189 and Jobber is $199 with no commitment, or $169 with a 1-year commitment.
  • 6-8 users: Housecall Pro MAX includes 8 users for $299/month billed annually. Jobber’s next size up is 10 users (Connect $229/month annual, Grow $299/month annual).

Two notes:

  • Housecall Pro’s page asks for your industry before showing plans, and also showed limited-time intro discounts. The prices above are its standard listed plan prices. Pick your own industry on the page to confirm yours.
  • On Jobber’s page, Core is offered only for “Just me.” A team of 2-5 starts at Connect.

Year-one math (our arithmetic, list prices, annual billing):

  • Solo: Jobber Core $348 vs Housecall Pro Basic $708
  • 5 users: Jobber Connect $1,788 vs Housecall Pro Essentials $1,788
  • 8 users: Housecall Pro MAX $3,588 vs Jobber Connect 10-user $2,748 (or Jobber Grow 10-user $3,588)

2. Features that matter for cleaning and landscaping

Booking, quotes and invoices

Both list online booking, scheduling, quotes and invoicing on their entry plans. Housecall Pro’s Basic also lists a price book, job costing, review management and consumer financing. On Jobber, job costing is listed from Grow.

Recurring work and automatic payments

  • Jobber Connect lists automated client reminders, “Collect payments automatically,” automated quote and invoice follow-ups and QuickBooks Online sync. That suits weekly cleans and mowing.
  • Housecall Pro lists automated invoice reminders from Basic. Recurring Service Plans (recurring maintenance agreements) are listed on MAX, and QuickBooks Online sync on Essentials.

If recurring auto-billing is a must, compare Jobber Connect with Housecall Pro MAX, not with Essentials, and ask each vendor exactly how recurring charges work on the plan you’re considering.

Checklists and job photos (consistent cleans and walkthroughs)

  • Jobber: job checklists from Connect. Grow adds richer quotes with images and reviews.
  • Housecall Pro: checklist automations and photo reports with annotations on Essentials.

Routes

  • Housecall Pro: Routes (group and sequence jobs) on Essentials. Route optimization with real drive time and live traffic on MAX.
  • Jobber: lists Routing and GPS tracking. We couldn’t confirm from its pricing page which tier routing starts on, so check in the trial.

Team and payroll

  • Housecall Pro Essentials lists employee GPS tracking (phone-based, no hardware) and commissions. Payroll is also listed among its extra services.
  • Jobber lists time tracking, a Gusto payroll integration, and crew scheduling on its higher Plus plan.

Both list mobile apps with Spanish support.

Payments and fees

OtherFree check deposit in the mobile appInstant payouts for an extra 1%

Housecall Pro doesn’t publish a per-transaction fee next to its 2.59% figure, so ask for the full rate. On a lot of small cleaning invoices, a flat 30-cent fee adds up.

3. AI and phone-answering add-ons

Both now sell AI help for missed calls:

  • Jobber lists Receptionist as a $29/month add-on that answers calls and texts and can book jobs. It also lists Marketing Suite ($99/month) and Pipeline ($49/month) add-ons.
  • Housecall Pro lists CSR AI, which “answers every call and chat, day or night.” We didn’t find a price for it on the pricing page.

For a small cleaning or lawn business, a missed call is often a missed client. Price these out, but don’t let them decide your core plan.

4. Which one fits your business

Pick Jobber if:

  • you’re solo and want the lowest entry price ($29/month annual),
  • you want automatic payments for recurring work without paying for a top plan (Connect),
  • your team will grow in steps of 5 or 10 users.

Pick Housecall Pro if:

  • you want job costing, a price book and consumer financing on the entry plan,
  • your team is 6-8 people (MAX includes 8 users),
  • you prefer phone-based employee GPS and photo reports on the mid plan.

Bottom line

At list price, Housecall Pro and Jobber cost the same for a 5-user team ($149/month billed annually). Jobber is clearly cheaper for a solo operator, and Housecall Pro MAX includes more users (8) at its tier. For cleaning and landscaping, the deciding questions are which plan includes recurring billing, which tier includes routing, and the full card fee. Start both 14-day trials the same week and run the same three real jobs through each.
